Welcome, welcome, my lovies, to Faces of Postpartum, The Podcast.
I am Ariane Audet, writer, photographer, advocate, and founder of the project.
In this podcast, I feature postpartum stories from parents—just like on the website—informal discussions with friends about parenthood, and interviews with passionate providers and experts. Everything here is evidence-based, honest, and heartfelt.
This podcast has been a dream of mine since the foundation of Faces of Postpartum in 2017. I've always wished to cast a net so wide that I could gather every postpartum experience under one safe umbrella [breathe] and welcome biological, adoptive, and step-parents, surrogates and caregivers, moms and dads of angel or disabled babies, folks from across the gender spectrum and around the globe.
So far, I've recorded talks with a dear friend of mine, Bianca Moskaitis, in which we discuss what it means for us to be postpartum and how we overcame crippling anxiety. We talk about self-care, and I listen to her tell me how it feels to be a Black mom in the US currently.
I've also sat with Casey Runck, a birth doula, to discuss weight-based stigma in reproductive health care, and how covid has affected so many birthing people for the past year.
So whether you are a new parent, a health care provider, or just curious about my journey as a mom and mental illness survivor, please consider sticking around: it's gonna be fun, smart, emotional and often heated.
I can't wait for you to hear what we have in store for you.
So grab a pair of headphones. We'll be back very soon.
Ciao.
